Longtold text message policy

What we send

Longtold sends account notifications only — never marketing. There are two kinds, and you only ever get the one you asked for.

If you tell the stories and you opt in, you get a short text when a new question is waiting for you, with a link to sign in and answer it — and, at most once per question, a gentle reminder if it has been sitting a few days.

If you are on a family’s reading list and you opt in, you get a short text when a new story is shared with you, with a link straight to it. Nothing else.

Either way, a one-time confirmation text is sent when you opt in.

How often

It depends on the pace the family chooses. Storytellers get up to four question alerts a week at the fastest setting, and most families run one or two; reminders add at most one message per question. Readers get at most one text a day from a family, however many stories were told that day.

How you opt in

Only you can opt yourself in. Nobody can enroll your number for you, and we never text a number that has not opted in.

If you have an account, enter your own mobile number under Settings and switch on “Text me when a question is waiting.” If you are on a family’s reading list and do not have an account, the same choice is on your own story page — the one the links in your emails open.

How you opt out

Reply STOP to any message and the texts end immediately — or flip the toggle off in Settings. Reply HELP for help, or write hey@longtold.life.

Rates and privacy

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Your phone number is used for these notifications and nothing else: no mobile information is ever shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties.
